Accounting Services

Recorded transactions are raw material. We turn them into statements that are closed, reviewed, and ready for the people who ask to see them.

  • Bookkeeping & accounting
  • Accurate & organized
  • Work directly with the owner

What we do

Bookkeeping records what happened. Accounting work makes sure what was recorded is right, closes the period so the figures are settled, and turns them into statements someone else can rely on.

That means reviewing the ledger rather than trusting it, correcting entries that landed in the wrong place, checking that every account ties back to a source statement, and posting the adjustments a period needs before it can be called closed. It also means keeping the chart of accounts sensible, because a chart of accounts that has grown into a junk drawer produces reports nobody can use.

The result is a profit and loss you can compare to the last one, a balance sheet that reflects what the business actually holds and owes, and a year end record set that is organized instead of scattered. When your tax preparer, a lender, or a potential buyer asks a question, the answer already exists.

What is included

  • Financial statement preparation
  • Month end and year end close
  • General ledger review and adjusting entries
  • Chart of accounts structure and cleanup
  • Accounts reconciled against source statements
  • Year end records organized for your tax preparer
  • Reports built around the questions you actually ask

How it works

We begin with a review of the current books and the chart of accounts. Before anything is closed we want to know where the figures come from and which of them can be traced back to a statement.

Then we work the close. Accounts get reconciled, misposted entries get corrected, and the adjustments the period needs get made and documented, so a figure can always be explained later. Once the period is closed we prepare the statements and walk you through what they say in plain language, including anything that changed from the last period and looks worth understanding.

At year end we pull the records into one organized set so handing them over is straightforward rather than a search. You deal with Javier directly by phone, email, or WhatsApp.

Who accounting services is for

  • Businesses that need statements someone outside the company will read
  • Owners whose reports do not match what they believe is happening
  • Anyone applying for financing and asked for organized financials
  • Businesses whose chart of accounts has stopped making sense
  • Owners who want the year end handover to be tidy instead of frantic
  • Businesses that keep their own records but want them reviewed and closed properly

Recorded is not the same as right

A set of books can be complete and still be wrong. Transactions land in a category that was convenient rather than correct. A payment gets entered twice because it appeared in two places. A transfer between accounts shows up as income. A refund never gets matched to what it refunded. None of that looks like a problem from the outside. The file is full, the reports generate, and the totals look plausible.

Reviewing the ledger is how those errors get found. We check that each account traces back to a source statement, look at what has been posted where and why, and correct what does not hold up. That review is the difference between reports that look organized and reports you can act on, and it matters most exactly when a figure is about to be shown to somebody outside the business.

Why the chart of accounts decides what your reports can tell you

The chart of accounts is the set of buckets everything gets sorted into, and it sets the limit on what any report can say. If most of your spending lands in one general category, no report will ever tell you where the money went. If similar things are split across accounts that were created ad hoc over the years, the totals are spread too thin to read. Nothing is technically wrong. The structure just cannot answer the questions you have.

Building it around how the business actually earns and spends changes what becomes visible: which lines of work carry their own costs, which expenses are growing faster than the revenue behind them, where a change would land. It is worth doing properly once, because every report from then on inherits the structure.

What is the difference between bookkeeping and accounting services?

Bookkeeping is the ongoing recording work: transactions entered, categorized, and reconciled as they happen. Accounting services sit on top of that. They cover reviewing the ledger for errors, posting the adjusting entries a period needs, closing the period so the figures stop moving, and preparing financial statements that other people can rely on. Most small businesses need both. The statements are only as good as the records underneath them, which is why the two jobs are usually kept together. JE Ledger does both. Accounting Services FAQs

What financial statements will I get?

A profit and loss showing what the business earned and spent in the period, and a balance sheet showing what it owns and owes at the end of it. We can add reports that answer the specific questions you have, such as how one part of the business is performing against another.

What does closing a period actually mean?

It means the figures for that period are final. Every account has been reconciled to a source statement, corrections and adjustments have been posted, and nothing more is expected to change. Until a period is closed, any report from it is a draft.

Do you work with my tax preparer?

Yes. A large part of the value of clean accounting work is that the handover is simple. We organize the year end records so whoever prepares your return is working from a complete, reconciled set rather than reconstructing the year from bank downloads.

My chart of accounts is a mess. Can that be fixed?

It can. Accounts that duplicate each other, catch all categories holding things that do not belong together, and one off accounts created in a hurry all make reports harder to read than they need to be. We restructure it around how the business actually earns and spends.

What do accounting services cost?

It depends on the size of the business, the state the records are in, and how much of the work is a one time cleanup versus an ongoing close each period. We would rather look first than quote blind. Call (305) 748-1367 or email [email protected].
